Movement & Stillness

Life’s dance

Life is a perpetual dance made up of movement and stillness. Movement and stillness can only exist together. Although one movement can and should give way to the next, much like a perpetuum mobile. Without stillness, the dance is nothing but a cacophony of never ending meaningless gestures. Stillness is what makes the dance so interesting to watch and enjoy.

The dance of life

From a life perspective, we have to move fluidly through our everyday choreographies, but we can not and must not continue to move nonstop. Life too can only be enjoyed in all its grandeur and beauty if we have moments of stillness.

But how?

Between the job, the house, the family, the kids — picking them up, dropping them off, tending to the garden, the cooking and the cleaning, checking in with the parents, volunteering, meeting up with friends, mentoring, getting in a bit of physical exercise and, from time to time, sleep (does that count as stillness?), how can less be more?

The key is to #listen
