Following our recent reports on the challenging conditions on Icon Hill, our on-site correspondent has intercepted some surprising photos that reveal a different side to the story: Life on Icon Hill isn’t all bad.
Groningen in the north of the Netherlands is a charming university town surrounded by rolling green pastures and serene waterways. Far from the Rhine or Maas, Groningen is nestled within the Netherlands’ vast network of canals, offering residents and visitors alike an idyllic setting to relax and rejuvenate. Icon Hill itself is perched between two sizeable lakes, providing its part-time residents with a natural escape—when allowed. For, nurses’ whims and doctors’ orders permitting, residents of Icon Hill are released daily at precisely 14:00, to immerse themselves in the tranquil beauty of the city’s surrounding landscape. The area’s intricate waterways, hiking paths, and biking trails provide a much-needed respite.
Evenings on Icon Hill reveal a more social side to life. The Heroes are permitted to leave their cells and mingle. Gathered around a roaring log fire, they swap Black Stories or team up to solve 30-Second Riddles. Occasionally, they look for Werwolves , Take6 or indulge in light-hearted swooning over stars like Bradley Cooper, Lady Gaga, or even Denzel Washington.
But the surprises don’t stop there. Our correspondent has observed a peculiar evening ritual: the female Heroes subject their male counterparts to unconventional beauty treatments. The results of these sessions, dubbed “Beauty for Boys,” are documented in the following photographs. Viewer discretion is advised—some content may not be for the faint-hearted!
