When it cannot be carried alone

Throughout centuries and across cultures, people have sought ways to meet moments of uncertainty. In times of grief, of fear, or of limits reached, many have turned beyond themselves. Today, some still reach outward when the situation can no longer be carried alone.

Basile Moreau was a 19th-century French priest to whom people turn when ordinary strength no longer suffices. His name has come to be associated with moments where those limits are reached — not as an answer, but as a possibility.
